IBM’s collaboration with the USC Annenberg Innovation Lab is part of its continued efforts to advance student skills in analytics across academia. IBM is working with more than 6,000 universities around the world to develop curricula and provide training, resources and support for business analytics.
For high school and college students with no formal enterprise systems education, IBM’s System z Academic Initiative also includes a worldwide contest called Master The Mainframe. It will also help researchers save time by more efficiently finding information buried in millions of pages of patent documents.
For instance, from 2010 to 2011 the percentage of respondents who cited a competitive advantage using analytics grew 23 percent for Transformed and 66 percent for Experienced organizations. In contrast, Aspirational organizations lost ground in competitiveness, falling 5 percent since last year.
